Resonance and Finding
Ten Tracks of Music for February 2022
Gahlord Dewald :: 2/2/22 :: Mānoa, Hawai‘i
Musicians explore sound—the ways it is madeJane Boxall, percussionist, the places where it is hidden. In this playlist you will hear feedback between a microphone and amplifier causing strings to vibrate, pieces of metal bouncing along on a mallet instrument, a double bass playing notes that are deeper than is possible, the sweet and beautiful saturation that happens when a transformer is overloaded gently, the sound of crickets along the Esopus Creek Riverbed, the resonance created by adding together many iterations of a clattering metal washboard, an underwater trumpet (?!), a beautiful song, a military strategist, and someone singing and playing a flute at the same time.
These aren’t the only sounds. There are others too. I hope you enjoy them.
An Experimental Playlist

Whatever is comfortable for you. Some sounds will only be audible on nicer speakers than a laptop or phone.
